Cañon City Trucks for Mountain Jobs
When you're clearing out a cabin, remodeling a mountain property, or cleaning up after a ranch project around Guffey, getting rid of the debris is the hard part. Hauling it yourself means a long trip down the mountain with a trailer, over and over. Our roll-off dumpsters come to your site instead. With flexible rental periods, drivers who know CO-9, and drop-off and pickup that fit your schedule, we keep waste removal simple so you can focus on the job. Everything we haul goes to licensed disposal facilities.
Guffey sits at nearly 9,000 feet in southern Park County, about 33 miles north of Cañon City by way of US-50 and CO-9. The route itself is old: the Currant Creek Wagon Road connected Cañon City to the gold fields as early as 1860. A post office opened here in 1895 under the name Idaville and was renamed Guffey the next year, after Pennsylvania oilman James McClurg Guffey. At its peak around 1900, the Freshwater Mining District town had more than 500 residents. In 1907, two cowboys found a 681-pound meteorite nearby, still the largest ever recovered in Colorado. Guffey's 1918 schoolhouse is still in use, and the town has a long tradition of electing animals as its honorary mayor.
